You may know that we’re passionate about a few things here at Pink Tool Belts, breast cancer awareness and building homes for women in Kenya are among a few of those things, but we’re also very passionate about connecting with and giving back to local communities. And since the Arroyo Grande Harvest Festival on the California Central Coast (home to our headquarters) was this past weekend, you bet we were there.

The truth is that we love getting out into local communities, meeting new people, and hearing about their passions. And as we posted to our Facebook and Twitter pages the past few days, we met some great new friends. So great, that we’d like to introduce them to you.

Meet our new auto mechanic friend. Initially drawn to our booth by coveralls designed by Rosie’s Workwear (a biz partner also headquartered on the Central Coast that makes products for women to “work and play in comfort and style”), she also walked away with a Pink Tool Bag, Pink Safety Sunglasses, and Pink Work Gloves. She’s ready to get to work.

One of our biggest fans of the day stuck the Pink Tool Belts decal on the back of her pink phone. We thought that was just a great idea!

A few of our male visitors proved not to be afraid of a little pink. They weren’t shy at all about putting on their new pink gear. One of the gentlemen purchased three Pink Hard Hats to give to his guy friends who will be walking in a Susan G. Komen race coming up. Love it!

A local gardening friend tried out the Pink Work Gloves in the “try-it-you-might-like-it garden” area of our booth. She must have liked what she tried – she bought a pair.

Just as we expected, we had a great time meeting new friends and learning about their passions, skills, work, and hobbies – and how they would use their new Pink Tool Belts products.

And because we really like giving, we raffled off a pair of Pink Work Gloves every hour on the hour. Turns out, people like getting free stuff! (Subscribe to our newsletter for your chance to win free stuff!)

Good work,

You’ve heard the saying “fall is for planting,” right? From our experience, there’s more to do this season than just plant; there’s extra yard work and house work too – from picking up leaves and stacking firewood to clearing out rain gutters and cleaning out fireplaces.

If some of these chores are on your to-do list this fall, we’d like to help make it easier. While we’re not actually offering to come help in your yard, in a way, we are. We’d like you to have a pair of comfortable, durable Pink Work Gloves to protect your hands and make your chores easier. An added bonus…wearing Pink Work Gloves is sure to add a little fun and fashion to your day!

So right about now you’re asking yourself, “OK, what do I have to do to win?”

It’s easy – answer the question “How will you use your Pink Work Gloves?” in the comments section below by 11:59 pm on Tuesday, September 21st and you’ll be in the running to win a pair of your own Pink Work Gloves.

And now we bet you’re asking yourself, “How will Pink Tool Belts choose who will win?” It’s simple – Terri will pick the answer that she likes the best and announce the winner here on our blog on the first day of fall – September 22nd. Since Terri tends to see the best in everything, we’re pretty sure it will be a hard decision for her, so pull out all the stops and be her first choice!

And don’t forget – at Pink Tool Belts, everybody is a winner. Purchase a pair of Pink Work Gloves in September, and we’ll slip a Pink Tool Belts T-Shirt in your package at no extra charge. And as always, we’ll donate a portion of your purchase to either The Kenya Project or to breast cancer awareness and research.

Good work!

There’s no doubt why we love our durable, stylish products, but we recently went looking for answers to the real question: why do our customers love them? Besides the most typical use of construction and handy-ma’am projects, when do they wear them, and what do they use them for? As we shared with you in our recent blog post, our Pink Tool Belts Team set out on a road trip to discover just that. We’d been told that our Pink Tool Belts and Pouches were really useful for gardening, grooming horses, crafting, and hair styling! These rumors were so cool, but were they true? It was up to us to find out.

And find out we did. The best part? These handy ladies let us videotape them so you can see for yourself how Pink Tool Belt wearers use the products, and what they like best about them!

This summer, our local Central California Coast NAWIC (The National Association for Women in Construction) Chapter #174 took the initiative to organize and co-host the Central Coast’s first-ever MAGIC Camp. MAGIC Camp is short for Mentoring A Girl In Construction, and these camps are exclusively for female high school students interested in construction careers, giving them the opportunity to work with their hands on projects that range from mixing and pouring concrete to building bird houses and working with electricity. For most of these girls, it’s their first experience working on these types of projects – and it’s free.

A few girls decorate their concrete pavers.

Our Pink Tool Belts Team was lucky enough to spend a half-day hanging out with these girls and watching them create their own concrete pavers. We felt that if these teenage girls were going to get their hands dirty in construction projects, then they needed the right gear – the right Pink gear that is! We surprised the girls by giving them each their own Pink Tool Belt, and watching their appreciative and excited responses reaffirmed the reason we were there: to give back and inspire women to achieve their goals. Plus, we love to see a group of Pink-Tool-Belt-wearing women hard at work.

Our team had such a fun time hanging with this group of passionate young ladies that we want to give a big thanks to our friends at our local NAWIC Chapter; they are a group of amazing women who welcomed us out to their event. And we also want to give a shout out to the event co-hosts who were extremely accommodating – California Polytechnic State University’s Construction Innovations Center and the California Center of Construction Education.

Terri explains to the girls how throughout their careers they can help others too, as one young lady looks at pictures from Terri's Kenya Trip.

If you have a business that’s connected to the construction industry or if you know a high school student interested in the construction industry, consider getting involved in a MAGIC Camp in your area. We think you’ll find the experience well worth your time and/or donations.

Thanks for all you hard work NAWIC,

The Pink Tool Belts Team

I’m the gal who enjoys spending my time taking and filling your Pink Tool Belts orders, reading and answering your emails, and viewing and posting the inspiring pictures you send. This isn’t a job or a chore for me – I truly LOVE being able to connect with each one of you.

I’m more than a little excited about having new ways to connect with you. While I’m new to blogging, Facebook, and Twitter, I’m learning a lot by reading your comments and tweets. I can’t wait to hear about what’s going on in your DIY lives, and I hope you’ll continue to connect with me through email, phone calls, tweets, and Facebook comments. Personally, I still like receiving good old-fashioned “snail-mail” too!

But don’t think all this social media will take me away from what I do best. My primary focus remains interacting with you, our customers, making sure that you’re given the customer service you deserve, and providing you with quality, stylish products that ultimately offer hope and help to women worldwide – specifically for our Kenya Project and Breast Cancer Awareness and Research. That’s why I’m lucky to have a talented Pink Tool Belts Team who helps me post, tweet, and connect with you. They also help keep my vision true for this blog: that we continue to share what matters at Pink Tool Belts – from events we attend and great companies we interact with to amazing people who inspire us and all things happening in the world of Pink Tool Belts.

I’ll sign off with a quote from an amazing historic figure who inspires me – please share your favorites from the people who’ve inspired you, too.

“Do your little bit of good where you are; it is those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” ~Desmond Tutu

A couple of weeks ago, our team took to the road with a video crew, camera gal, and snacks in tow. We set out on a trip to document what people are using their Pink Tool Belts and Pink Tool Pouches for. We were hearing some chatter that they were being used for things other than just construction – gardening, grooming horses, crafting, and hair styling! These rumors were so cool, but were they true? It was up to us to find out.

First stop was Rocky Mountain Horse Club in Arroyo Grande where we met up with Julia Pickslay who has been riding horses since she was five, and uses her Pink Tool Pouch for grooming her horse. Julia claimed that the Pink Tool Pouch makes the grooming process so much easier because she has “everything right here on my hip!” We were happy to hear that!

We headed out of the Ranch (although not on horseback unfortunately) and over to a wedding location where hairstylist and makeup artist Suz<ins datetime="2010-08-11T13:46" cite="mailto:Jami%20Fawcett">a</ins><del datetime="2010-08-11T13:46"></del>nna from Rebel Blonde Salon in San Luis Obispo was prepping makeup and hair for a lovely bride. While we didn’t stay too long, we were there long enough to watch how she put both her Pink Tool Belt and Pink Tool Pouch to work. She held everything from makeup, brushes, and Q-Tips to bobby pins, brushes, and even hairspray, which we loved to see.

While we made three others stops, including a DIY gal’s workshop, a beautiful backyard garden, and an amazing crafting studio, we’ll wait to share those adventures with you on video soon. That way, you can watch the story unfold for yourself.

What did we learn from our road trip? While the Pink Tool Belt was initially created especially for women in the construction industry – it’s durable, lightweight, and comfortable (since it is designed to fit a woman’s shape) – women are smart and they’ve put it to use in many other ways!

What will you put in your Pink Tool Belt?
